The Ski to Sea Festival consists of a 100 mile relay race of seven venues encompassing seven different sports, a historical hometown parade, and other special events provide a wide variety of entertainment and adventure for all who participate. Mt Baker ski area is known as the snowiest resort in Washington for the 600+ inches of snow that fall here annually, and is one of the most well-known ski areas. The North Cascades is a mountainous region that is filled with deep glacial lakes, small mountain villages Like most of the other Washington ski resorts, the Mount Baker ski area is set at a fairly high elevation. Although the Olympic Peninsula does get a fair amount of slow, the ski areas in eastern Washington like Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie and Crystal Mountain have the advantage of colder, drier air in the higher elevation of the Cascade Mountains. Places like the Mt Baker ski resort get the heaviest coating the area, receiving hundreds of inches of dry powdery snow that is perfect for skiing and snowboarding.
The Northwest Washington Fair celebrates the Agricultural Heritage of Whatcom County every August by providing affordable family entertainment, diverse attractions, and educational opportunities for people of all ages. Achievements of youth are showcased by providing opportunities for displaying projects and competitive exhibits The Lynden PRCA Rodeo went from a dream on the part of a few passionate volunteers to becoming the Small Rodeo of the Year for the PRCA's Columbia River Circuit. Celebrating the Western Heritage of our country, the Lynden Rodeo is full of action and excitement as some of the top cowboys and cowgirls in the country converge on Lynden for two days at the end of August to test their skills in Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, and all seven events that are a part of every PRCA Rodeo.
Established by Ryan Stiles in 2004, The Upfront is a 100 seat cabaret style venue that offers live improv comedy every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm and 10pm. The Upfront performs and teaches many different styles and formats of improv including long and short form improv and everything in between. The Main Stage located within Mount Baker Theatre in downtown Bellingham’s Arts District is the largest performing arts facility of its kind north of Seattle. During Stalin's regime part of Vartanyan family was sent to Siberia. Larrabee State Park is a 2,683-acre camping park with 8,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on Samish Bay near Bellingham in northwest Washington. The park features two freshwater lakes, coves and tidelands. Sunsets are gorgeous. A variety of non-motorized, multiple-use trails wind through the park. The area is known for Chuckanut sandstone. The park has tide pools to explore on Chuckanut Bay and Samish Bay. Two freshwater lakes add beauty to the forested terrain.

Elakah Expeditions’ “Paddle and Pedal” day trips are a good intro to the region: The morning kicks off with an hour-long kayaking trip along the sandstone cliffs of the Salish Sea (watch for river otters, seals, and eagles). Then, it’s a brief stop at Chuckanut Island to see native Salish archaeological sites. From there, you’ll paddle to Larrabee State Park for lunch followed by an afternoon bike trip on the fern- and cedar-cloaked Interurban Trail.
Moondance Sea Kayak Adventures is located in Bellingham, Washington and welcomes beginners as well as more skilled paddlers on our adventures. San Juan Cruises is a Bellingham, WA based company that operates three passenger vessels: Victoria Star 2, Viking Star and Island Commuter 2. We offer sightseeing tours to the San Juan Islands and Victoria, BC during the summer months, as well as private charters. In 2011 we ended our service to Victoria, BC, to allow us to focus more on the scenic San Juan Islands, our popular Chuckanut Bay Cracked Crab dinner cruises, and private charters. We currently offer a variety of tours, including trips to the San Juan Islands / Friday Harbor, whale watching, dinner cruises, and group charters.
Gently graded, gravel path with scenic views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. Trail follows 10th street from Taylor Dock to Douglas Ave. TRAILHEADS Parking at Boulevard Park and on S. State St. North access at Railroad Ave. and Maple St. South access at 10th St. and Mill Ave. MILEAGE • 0.4 mile - Maple St. to Wharf St. • 1.4 miles - Wharf St. to Pattle Point in Boulevard Park. • 0.5 mile - Pattle Point to Fairhaven Village Green at Mill Ave. Boulevard Park is a community park established in 1980. Located on Bellingham Bay, this park is a favorite for sunset viewing. Facilities include trails, parking, restrooms, playground, picnic tables, barbecues, interpretive displays, beaches, and dock. Taylor Dock is a historic structure once used to support waterfront industry. It was reopened for public use in 2004. Fairhaven Village Green was established in 2003. Facilities include restrooms, seating, a stage, pergola shelters and drinking fountains.
Hertz Trail is an easy 3.1 miles one way. It follows the old Blue Canyon mine railroad grade along the shores of Lake Whatcom. A beautiful trail snuggled tightly between Stewart Mountain and Lake Whatcom with scenic, tranquil spots along the shoreline. The trail begins with a gradual slope through lush forest to the interpretive kiosk at the lakeshore. Find information here about the history of Lake Whatcom and its importance to our community as the source of our drinking water. The trail then follows the railroad grade of the Bellingham & Eastern Railway along the shores of Lake Whatcom. Enjoy views of Lake Whatcom and surrounding hills plus waterfalls and giant old Douglas fir trees. Trailhead is located near the end of Northshore Drive. From Bellingham follow Northshore Drive east to near the road end. Follow signs to parking. Fully accessible parking and access is 0.25 miles farther towards the lake from the main parking area.
A traditional style layout, the course has many holes that are tucked away in the forest and make you feel like you are on your own, private, personal golf course. Some come out to play golf, some come for a walk in the park and use golf as the reason. Lake Padden offers unrefined beauty. The golf course is carved out of a second generation old growth forrest with trees upward of 100 feet tall. The front nine of Sudden Valley is relatively open and flat and borders the shores of Lake Whatcom. Fairway landing areas are relatively generous and the greens are large. However, the back nine follows a ridge uphill with narrow evergreen-fringed fairways and smaller greens that have more character. Sudden Valley is considered a true masterpiece, stressing finesse and accuracy with water hazards on fourteen of the eighteen holes and some forty-seven bunkers sprinkled throughout the course. The Arne Hanna Aquatic Center offers a variety of programs, including lap swims, American Red Cross swim lessons and training courses, three different intensity levels of shallow water aerobics, deep water running, deep water aerobics, water child care, kayaking and preschool, family and open swims.
